In order to classify the severity of hair loss, doctores created a series of charts categorizing various stages of hair loss. The charts are useful when describing your hiar loss to someone or as a personal measurement of your own hair loss progression.
 
The chart is only relevant to Male and Female Pattern baldness/hair loss since the hair loss occurs in a predictable pattern. The chart at the right is the chart most commonly used for men whcih was developed by Dr. Hamilton, as it title suggests.
 
There is also a Female Patten hair loss, also known as Androgenic Alopecia chart designed to classify womens hair loss called the Ludwig Scale.
 
However, there are always exceptions and in some cases men may suffer from a diffused type thinning and women may experience hair loss more simular to that of men.
